If this Insurance does not meet your needs, please return this Certificate of Insurance together with the Schedule to your Insurance Broker/Agent within 14 days of receipt and a full refund of premium and tax will be made subject to no trips having taken place and no claims being made. No return of premium will be made after this period.

Contract of travel insurance

This Certificate of Insurance together with the certificate validation document forms the basis of your contract of insurance. It contains restrictions, conditions and exclusions in each section and general conditions and exclusions applying to all the sections. You must meet these conditions or we may not accept your claim.

Eligible Persons

Individual, spouse or partner (as long as they have lived together for 6 months or more, unless otherwise accepted by us in writing),and family, provided application premium has been paid. Adults are allowed to travel independently. Children on a family Annual Multi Trip insurance Certificate can only travel unaccompanied (visiting relatives) providing they have had the consent of the main insured person and they are accompanied to and from the airport or other international departure point and met at their destination by a responsible adult over the age of 21.Persons over 79years of age, meaning having reached their 80th Birthday at the date of issue of this certificate ,are not eligible for cover under single Trip. Persons over 65 years of age, meaning having reached their 66th Birthday at the date of issue of this certificate, are not eligible for cover under long Stay Trip. Persons over 69 years of age, meaning having their 70th Birthday at the date of issue of this certificate, are not eligible for cover under Annual Multi Trip.

Health

Any claim that relates to an injury or symptom of which you are aware that has required treatment, medical consultation or investigation, affecting you at any time during the twelve months prior to the commencement of cover, unless the condition was declared to us and accepted in writing by way of a medical reference number. Please contact your Insurance Broker/Agent if you are in any doubt as to whether this Insurance meets your needs.

Reciprocal Health Agreement

If you will be travelling to a European Union Country, you should apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) at www.ehic.org.uk and take it with you. If you need treatment while you are abroad, you should provide the doctor treating you with the Card, as it will save you paying the Excess amount from any claim made under Section C) Medical Expenses.

When you are travelling to Australia or New Zealand and you require medical treatment you must enrol with the Medicare or equivalent scheme of those countries.

If you are in any doubt how to collect a EHIC or register for the Medicare scheme, please contact your Insurance Broker / Agent, or visit your local post office.

Your belongings

Many claims for loss or theft are caused by people being careless with their belongings. If you do not take good care of your belongings we may not pay your claim.

Excess Amount

Under most sections of this insurance you have to pay the first part of any claim (an excess). This amount is shown under each of the sections where it applies. The excess does not apply if you have paid the Excess Waiver premium, or for claims under Section C) Medical Expenses where you have obtained Reciprocal Health treatment. However, the Excess Waiver does not apply to Section E - Personal Liability and Section F - Legal Expenses.

Dangerous activities

You may not be covered when you take part in certain sports or activities if there is a high risk of you being injured. This Insurance will not cover you when participating in the following activities:

  • Crewing a vessel.
  • Gliding.
  • Hang gliding.
  • Hunting.
  • Ice Hockey.
  • Jet biking.
  • Jet skiing.
  • Luging.
  • Mountaineering.
  • Officially organized practice or training.
  • Parachuting.
  • Off piste skiing without an official guide.
  • Professional or semi-professional sport.
  • Ski acrobatics.
  • Ski flying.
  • Ski jumping.
  • Ski racing.
  • Racing (except on foot).
  • Scuba diving deeper than 30 metres.
  • Using skeletons or bobsleighs.
  • White water rafting above level 3.

This list of activities is not exhaustive, please check with your Insurance Broker/Agent whether this Insurance will cover you.

This Insurance will only cover you when participating in any sport or activity on an incidental basis and not if it is the main purpose of your trip.

Law

This contract will be governed by English law, and you and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless you reside in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, in which case the law applicable to such jurisdiction will apply and its' courts will have exclusive jurisdiction.
