However there have been concerns raised by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) who suggest that further regulation will mean some insurers will begin removing financial products altogether and some people may miss out on their holiday as a result:
“Legislation, no matter how well-intentioned, could have the unintended negative consequence of forcing some insurers to withdraw certain products altogether, reducing competition and availability and pushing up prices for all age groups.”
The ABI’s spokesperson Malcolm Tarling also said that:
“there are specialist insurers out there, the issue is how we can get people to know of these insurers.”
