Vertigo
Many believe vertigo is a fear of heights, although the symptoms may increase when high above the ground, vertigo is actually the sensation of spinning. The sensation is felt even when not in motion and the person with the condition is standing completely still. The condition may affect the person only slightly or it could result in them falling to the ground and not being able to walk. The feelings vertigo entails are, dizziness, nausea, light-headedness, difficulty in walking and the sensation of the floor moving.
The balancing mechanism in the inner ear is the most common cause of vertigo. Arthritis, migraines, poor circulation and very rarely strokes or tumours can also cause it. Treatments differ according to the effects of the vertigo. If it is caused by an ear infection antibiotics can also cure the vertigo. In the more severe circumstances Vestibular Rehabilitation is an effective treatment; it is an exercise programme that can help with the symptoms of dizziness and restore problems with balance.
If there have been no changes to your medical condition over the last 12 months, Cover My Travels can provide a comprehensive travel insurance policy with no additional charge.
