Hiatus hernia

This condition is caused when a part of the stomach slides through the hole where the oesophagus passes into the chest cavity. This type of hernia often causes no physical symptoms and may cause slight discomfort in the form of heartburn. These symptoms may occur or worsen after eating by lying down or bending forwards.

Treatments for Hiatus Hernia include, changing eating patterns by eating smaller but more frequent meals and by avoiding alcohol and coffee. There are medicines both over the counter and by prescription that can help. Surgery is only a solution in very few cases.

If there have been no changes to your medical condition over the last 12 months, Cover My Travels can provide a comprehensive travel insurance policy with no additional charge.
