Grommets are used if, someone has glue ear which is more common in children. Glue ear is where fluid builds up in the middle of the ear and causes slight hearing difficulties or complete deafness. Glue ear is thought to be caused by a viral or bacterial infection, which leads to the fluid begin produced. Grommets are placed in the ear to help drain the fluid to cure glue ear.
