Goitre

Goitre is an enlargement of the thyroid gland, which is across the front of the neck. Many who experience goitre rarely experience any problems or pain. However some may swell and press on the windpipe causing difficulty in breathing and swallowing, only then will it be removed otherwise no treatment is needed. More women than men get goitre and the main cause is iodine deficiency, which is very unknown in Britain.
