Glandular fever

Lymph nodes, which are present around the neck, armpits and groin, become swollen when the infection, glandular fever, takes hold. Many have had the infection when they were younger without any physical symptoms so their bodies have produced antibodies against the virus. The most common age to get glandular fever with symptoms is between the ages of 10 and 35. Only people who haven't already had it as a child can get glandular fever as an older child or young adult. Glandular fever is an infectious illness and can be passed onto family and friends.

Symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes, high fever, very sore throat and lack of energy may indicate someone has glandular fever. Treatments can only ease the symptoms, as there is no cure for the virus. The condition usually runs its course within a month with many never getting glandular fever again.
