Gallbladder removal

The body can function without the gallbladder, which is a small pear-shaped pouch, positioned under the liver, which aids digestion. The gallbladder may be removed if there are gallstones in the gallbladder, which cause pain, yellow skin (jaundice) and fever. The removal of the gallbladder is a surgical procedure, which is usually done using keyhole surgery. After any surgery there is the chance of infection and a certain length of recovery time is required.
