Are there any medical conditions you don't cover?

Do I really need travel insurance if I am travelling within the European Community?

Yes. While your basic medical expenses may be reimbursed through the EHIC scheme, there are many additional reasons why you might require full travel insurance within the EC, such as:

  • Loss or damage to baggage
  • Loss or theft of personal money
  • Travel delays
  • Cancellation of flights/transportation

So should anything unexpected occur whilst on holiday, you will be able to continue enjoying your travels with the confidence that everything is covered.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) - this now replaces the E111 form

The reciprocal arrangement on medical treatment inside the EC varies widely from country to country. It does not cover everything. A significant contribution towards medical costs is often required by the health-service of the host country.

Should you travel without insurance, you will be fully responsible for the cost of getting yourself (and any family members) home by air ambulance - or on additional flights.

Will I need a medical certificate to apply for a policy?

We very rarely ask for one. We rely on you supplying us with accurate information and answering the medical questionnaire correctly. We do not cover claims for any existing medical conditions that were not declared and agreed by us when you applied.
